Pelomedusa subrufa - African helmeted turtle

This site was started as a resource on the captive requirements of African helmeted turtles, Pelomedusa subrufa. African sidenecked
turtles of the genus Pelomedusa and Pelusios have over the last couple of years appeared with greater frequency in the pet trade.
Unfortunately much of the information pertaining to the captive requirements of these species is vague at best. Here you will find
information on the housing, feeding, and breeding of Pelomedusa. All information presented on Pelomedusa.com is based on nearly two
decades of my own personal experience keeping and breeding turtles.

As noted above I am excited to announce the collaboration with Pelusios.com. It is through this cooperative venture that we will be able
to provide more detailed information on the taxonomy and evolution of Pelomedusiod turtles and I strongly encourage any keeper of
