Pelomedusa subrufa - African helmeted turtle

Welcome to Pelomedusa.com

It has been extremely busy around here with many new projects
underway of which the most exciting one is the start of the North
American Pelusios & Pelomedusa Studbook and Record (NAPPSR).
The European Studbook Foundation (ESF) has graciously accepted
the proposal for starting a formal collaboration between Pelusios and
Pelomedusa keepers in Europe and North America.

This site will continue to serve as a resource on the captive
requirements of African helmeted turtles, Pelomedusa subrufa,
including information on the housing, feeding, and breeding. All
information presented on Pelomedusa.com is based on nearly two
decades of my own personal experience keeping and breeding
turtles.

Pelusios.com continues to provide more detailed information on the
taxonomy and evolution of Pelomedusiod turtles. I strongly
encourage any keeper of Pelomedusa to spend time on Pelusios.com
as the wealth of information assembled there will prove an invaluable
tool in furthering your own knowledge and understanding of
Pelomedusid turtles.
